The Governors of St Michael's CE High School are seeking to appoint an exceptional and ambitious Inclusion Base Coordinator to help to build on our existing Inclusion Base and help realise our ambition for an exceptional inclusive provision that transforms outcomes for pupils.
This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping a provision that sits at the heart of our vision of enabling every pupil to flourish through growth in body, mind and spirit. Drawing upon the very best of inclusive practice, the Inclusion Base will provide targeted support for pupils experiencing barriers to learning, attendance, engagement or wellbeing, creating pathways that enable them to access, sustain and thrive in mainstream education.
Working as part of our highly regarded Learning Support Team, you will help to coordinate a provision that not only supports pupils to deconstruct the barriers that they face but actively prepare them for successful participation in the wider life of the school. The successful candidate will coordinate the day-to-day operation of the Inclusion base, working closely with pupils, families, pastoral staff, classroom teachers, the SEND team and external professionals. You will oversee targeted interventions, support reintegration into mainstream lessons, and help pupils develop the confidence, resilience, communication skills and independence required to achieve success both in school and beyond.
We are seeking someone who:
• Has experience of working with young people who face barriers to learning, including SEND and social, emotional and mental health needs.
• Has the ability to build meaningful and trusting relationships with pupils and families.
• Believes that high expectations and strong relationships are fundamental to successful inclusion.
• Is committed to helping every pupil feel valued, supported and that they belong.
• Can coordinate personalised support and intervention programmes that remove barriers to learning.
• Is passionate about inclusion and excited by the opportunity to help develop a new provision from the outset.
• Can work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure pupils successfully access and thrive within mainstream education.
At St Michael's, inclusion is not simply a strategy. It is an expression of our Christian vision and our commitment to celebrating the uniqueness of each individual. We believe every young person is capable of success and deserves the opportunity to experience "life in all its fullness" (John 10:10). The Inclusion Base will play a vital role in making this vision a reality for some of our most vulnerable pupils.
This role offers the opportunity to:
• Work within a highly supportive and experienced Learning Support and Wellbeing Team.
• Play a key role in driving our inclusive practice across the school.
• Make a tangible difference to the lives and futures of young people.
• Access high-quality professional development opportunities within a successful and ambitious school.
St Michael's is a high-achieving school committed to both academic excellence and exceptional pastoral care. In 2026, 91.5% of pupils achieved grade 4 or above in both
English and Mathematics, with 37.5% achieving grade 7 or above across their GCSEs. However, our greatest strength is our unwavering commitment to ensuring every pupil is
known, valued and supported to flourish.
