St Michael’s Zambia Project
Since 2022, St Michael’s has built a powerful partnership with communities in Lusaka, Zambia, reflecting our values of courageous advocacy, global citizenship, and Christian faith. This initiative enriches both our pupils and the communities we support by fostering deep, meaningful global connections.
We have:
- Partnered with Mission Direct to promote education in Lusaka.
- Raised over £67,000 over three years to build essential toilet and shower facilities at the Good Samaritan School, benefiting 500+ pupils.
Hands-On Work- In July 2024, 15 pupils and 5 staff visited Zambia to:
- Help build and paint school facilities.
- Engage in cultural exchanges and creative activities with local children.
- Visit homes in impoverished areas, the Vision of Hope refuge for trafficked girls, and the Footprints charity for street children.
Beyond Fundraising Demonstrating courageous advocacy:
- Campaigned and wrote to over 100 businesses.
- Met government officials.
- Led assemblies and worships to spread awareness.
- Focused on respectful, stereotype-free storytelling.
Lasting Impact After returning, pupils—our Zambassadors—committed to:
- Supporting Footprints charity’s work with street children.
- Fundraising for chickens to help the Good Samaritan School become self-sufficient.
- Sponsoring children at the Crown of Life School—each year group now supports one child.
Embedded in School Life Our Zambia work is part of a broader culture at St Michael’s that prioritises:
- Social justice
- Environmental stewardship
- Spiritual and personal development
- Curriculum and worship rooted in global issues and action
Living Our Vision- The Zambia Project brings our school motto— “growing in body, mind and spirit”—to life. It shows how education, faith, and community can drive real change. Pupils don’t just learn about the world—they learn how to transform it.
