AQA – GCSE Art and Design – Fine Art – 8202: 

In year 10 pupils are introduced to a greater variety of artist styles and  

ways of working (2D and 3D). 

Pupils will be initially set a number of tasks based on the artist Kandinsky. 

This will form the basis of sketchbook work which will then support their own personal outcomes.   

Kandinsky/mark making project.  

Using Kandinsky’s artwork as a starting point to explore the theme ’mark making/mixed media’. 

Methods of creative presentation in sketchbooks. 

Use of pencils – tonal work –working on different surfaces. 

MICHAELMAS 1 

Continuing exploring a range of materials and techniques. Workshop activities. For example:  

  • Creative use of stitch – use of sewing machine. 
  • Mono-printing- use of black ink, rollers. 
  • Acetone printing. 
  • Use of acrylic paint. 
  • Collage techniques. 

MICHAELMAS 2 

Continue to explore the use of different materials/techniques. 

To make connections with other artists (eg Paul Gauguin – direct trace drawings). 

Working independently in researching/planning and producing ideas for a final piece of artwork.  

Develop initial ideas from their explorations. 

LENT 1 

Continue to develop initial ideas from their explorations. 

Select, refine and develop ideas leading to a final design.  

Reviewing and refining work as it progresses. 

LENT 2 

Final Artwork.  

Reviewing and refining work as it progresses. 

TRINITY 1 

Final Artwork/refining sketchbook work. 

Year 11 Mock Exam Using a previous AQA exam paper pupils choose one theme from seven  

starting points. 

TRINITY 2 

Continuing with mock exam planning.
