St Michael’s, an outstanding Christian academy, provides a richness of opportunity and excellence for pupils.
With superb results, amongst the best in the country for non-selective schools, and curriculum expertise across a broad spectrum of subjects, this high school continually strives to be the very best it can be for all who learn and teach here.
St Michael’s CE High School was founded in 1964 with 285 pupils to provide a Christian Education for the young people of Chorley. It has steadily grown through popularity, community support and reputation to an academy with over 1100 pupils. Through this growth, the school has held fast the importance of relationships and continues to thrive on the respect and Christian love shown across our school community.
Our school motto, “Therefore choose…” is lived out through our pupils on a daily basis. It encapsulates our aim as a school; to prepare and equip each of our young people for their future aspirations through the ability to make informed choices in every area of their lives. At St Michael’s, educational excellence is about developing the whole individual; body, mind and spirit.
Through the extensive professional skills within our Governing Board, senior leaders of the school are corporately supported and challenged to secure the very best educational outcomes and effective financial probity. Continual improvement is important to all in our school community and whilst we recognise we may not get it right every time, we are confident in aiming to give our children the care and the challenge for their next stage of education.
It is our passion that every person experiences ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10) and that all benefit from the contribution that St Michael’s can play in this journey.
