MICHAELMAS 1
(One double lesson and one single lesson/week for approximately 7 weeks)
Pupils will produce a realistic portrait of one of their peers, create an imaginative portrait created from line and also produce a 3D piece. They will study how artists through time/different cultures have approached portraiture. Pupils will be introduced to artists that demonstrate the breadth of portraiture through history. Examples of portraiture will be juxtaposed against one another to emphasis their similarities and differences, connections and meanings and interpretations. Pupils will work with a range of media and use different methods and techniques/ways of working to produce their artwork. Pupils will be introduced to the tradition of specialisms within art. For example, drawing for different purposes, working two dimensionally and three dimensionally.
Pupils will:
- Learn the importance of careful observation (to draw what they see and not what they think is there).
