There are four Christian Values Enrichment Days annually. These are aimed at enhancing the Curriculum by focusing on the Christian values, with pupils experiencing a wealth of different activities, educational visits and team based tasks.

Good and Evil Tutors Led by: Simon Corner AIMS: Pupils take part in activities looking our school motto, ‘Therefore Choose’ and taking part in various activities and reflections. CHRISTIAN VALUES: Community, faith. ACTIVITIES: Pupils take part in activities including a fashion show and drama looking at how God will help if there are any big decisions to be made and how they can make positive choices in life. |
Year 8 |
(Year 7) Chester RE and Humanities trip Humanities / English Led by: JEP / BAE / PC AIMS: To explore the impact of a cathedral as part of a joint RE, History and Geography trip. CHRISTIAN VALUES: Faith. ACTIVITIES: Pupils travel to Chester Cathedral where they carry out a survey regarding the influence of the cathedral. They explore the life of the cathedral in Tudor times and the day culminates in a short act of worship led by cathedral clergy.

Celebration Performing Arts / Technology Led by: JEC AIM: To use creativity exploring themes and preparing for the end of term service. CHRISTIAN VALUES: Community. ACTIVITIES: This day is used annually to prepare pupils for the end of term service and the themes which will be explored in this. This year pupils looked at the First World War, creating costumes and artwork depicting aspects of this. |
Media Day English Led by: CMC / JAC AIM: This is a teamwork project designed to help pupils with their speaking and writing skills and involved a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style activity CHRISTIAN VALUES: Community, trust. ACTIVITIES: Pupils work together to create a entrepreneurial school based business product. They then showcase their product in front of others persuading them of its worth. |
Human Rights Performing Arts / Art Led by: JEC AIM Pupils spend the day exploring the theme of Human Rights. CHRISTIAN VALUES: Justice, peace, hope, community. ACTIVITIES: Pupils take part in three out of four practical based activities within Dance, Drama, Art and Music. They watch a film telling the story of Charlotte Salomon, a German Jewish painter, who died in Auschwitz concentration camp in 1943. They then explore various human rights through team building activities. |

MFL / Technology / PE Led by: JJN AIMS: To explore different cultures encouraging tolerance, community and understanding. CHRISTIAN VALUES: Community ACTIVITIES: The pupils take part in varied activities aimed at increasing their understanding of different European nations, whilst also celebrating the important and necessity of learning languages. They take part in PE activities, some cook mini Black Forest Gateaux, make origami butterflies and have the first chance to learn Spanish. |
Salford Quays / Imperial War Museum / Synagogue Visit Humanities Led by: JEP / PC / BAE AIM: To build faith bridges with other religious communities. CHRISTIAN VALUES: Community ACTIVITIES: Pupils visit Manchester synagogues. SALFORD QUAYS – for pupils who have opted to take Geography. AIM: To explore the impact of urban regeneration CHRISTIAN VALUES: Stewardship. IMPERIAL WAR MUSEUM – for pupils who have opted to take History. AIM: to visit the museum and take part in fact finding activities. |
Salford Quays / Imperial War Museum / Jewish Trail Humanities Led by: JEP / BAE / PC JEWISH TRAIL AIM: To build faith bridges with other religious communities. CHRISTIAN VALUES: Community ACTIVITIES: Pupils visit Manchester synagogues and take part in a ‘Jewish Trail.’ SALFORD QUAYS – for pupils who have opted to take Geography. STEM Day Science / Maths / Technology Led by: JNC / LG / KAT AIM: To have an entire day dedicated to investigating projects based on Science, Maths, Engineering and Technology. CHRISTIAN VALUES: stewardship. ACTIVITIES: Pupils take part in STEM activities, including sustainability workshops appreciating the importance of working together as a global community. |
Year 10 |
Citizenship, Finance and wellbeing
Living Education / Maths Led by: DLB / SC AIMS: For the pupils to learn how to manage money, budget for the future and keep an eye on their savings. The 2nd part of the day explores current issues – pornography, bereavement and social issues. CHRISTIAN VALUES: Community, peace ACTIVITIES: The Maths department deliver sessions to teach pupils about budgeting, savings and pensions. Pupils take part in an enterprise activities requiring them to make their own catering business and manage money. The other half of the day is led by Simon Corner (our Christian Youth Worker) and outside speakers. |
Computing and Army Day ICT / PE Led by: CJH / KE This day is in two parts. AIMS: To promote Online Safety, Computing, allow pupils to try data programming and to give pupils their first insights into revision techniques and strategies for exam success. CHRISTIAN VALUES: Trust, community, endurance. ACTIVITIES: Pupils are involved in ’Super Sleuthing’ using data programming to find treasure. Part of their day is also focused on safety online. Half of the day is led by the PE department and the Army who involve the pupils in team building and endurance tasks. |
Bang Drum Performing Arts / Technology / PE Led by: JEC AIMS: To give pupils the experience of another culture through the Performing Arts. CHRISTIAN VALUES: Community ACTIVITIES: Outside group Bang Drum allow pupils to experience the culture and rhythms of Brazil. Pupils have a presentation of different styles of world percussion and dance, touching on the history and culture of styles from Egypt, West African and Cuba. They then take part in Art, Dance and Music culminating in a fantastic performance at the end of the day where all their work comes together. |
SMSC Day (Social, moral, spiritual and cultural understanding) Living Education Led by: CJH / DLB / RLR / JAC AIMS: For the pupils to investigate spiritual relaxation techniques, appreciate the differing cultures around them, understand the Prevent Strategy, investigate extremism and radicalisation. CHRISTIAN VALUES: Community, peace ACTIVITIES: Pupils take part in Mindfulness activities, yoga, look at British values, immigration, extremism and radicalisation. A motivational speaker also leads a sessions on success strategies. |
Year 11 |
Runshaw Sampling Living Education / Science Led by: DLB AIMS: To give Year 11 a taste of college life and explore ideas for their future. CHRISTIAN VALUES: Hope ACTIVITIES: Year 11 attend Runshaw College. They select various subjects and courses to explore which interest them and then take part in these as taster sessions.

Skills for Work Living Education Led by: DLB / RJB AIMS: to provide an insight into the challenges and skills needed for employment in today’s job market and to practise and thereby appreciate the value of teamwork, leadership, communication, management and enterprise skills within the working environment. CHRISTIAN VALUES: Community, trust. ACTIVITIES: Pupils take part in a series of team building activities led by outside employers. |

Alton Towers Tutorials Led by: Pupil Manager / tutors AIMS: To celebrate dedicated diligence and give pupils a well-deserved fun day. CHRISTIAN VALUES: Community ACTIVITIES: Pupils go to Alton Towers for the day as a special treat for their hard work and commitment. Pupils benefit greatly from this break from work!
